On the one hand, an especially cold winter heated up demand and sent gas prices sky-rocketing as supplies ran out. On the other hand, it should not be forgotten that the emission reduction targets are foreseeing the closure of nuclear and thermal power plants, with renewable energies not being able to replace them 100%. Why does Micron technology translate into energy saving?

Meler’s R&D team set itself a challenge in mid-2014: to create a 100% efficient melter. To this end, there we carried out an in-depth study and design of all the parts that are in contact with the adhesive and that must be heated to make the system work: the tank, pump and distributor.
The objective revolved around directing the flow of energy towards the interior, concentrating it on said components in order to avoid the loss of external heat, and consequently reduce the energy used. We achieved the objective, and that’s how Micron technology arose.

The new Micron design homogenised the tank temperature, optimised the flow of the adhesive, and also increased its insulating capacity, thanks to the application of new materials. The result: the lowest energy consumption per kg melt/hour of use on the market *.

Micron is 60% more efficient that its competitors

The following tables show comparative data obtained in laboratory tests made with two of the most installed melting units on the market. Micron stands out in two aspects, mainly: energy efficiency and thermal stability that guarantees care of the adhesive.

Quick and efficient start-up

How much minimum energy is needed to start up a melter? The team who developed Micron technology asked themselves the same question. Their aim was to create a scalable solution capable of adapting the power to each type of tank. Consequently, each version has a power proportional to the amount of adhesive to melt.

The initial energy output is higher than that in competing models; however it occurs in a sequential manner so that each of the elements that make up the system increase their temperature without creating high thermal oscillations. Within a few minutes, the system will be ready for daily work to start. The data in the table shows that the Micron 5 is the fastest melter on the market compared to the other melters analysed. It also manages to be the fastest with the lowest W/h consumed. It is, therefore, the most efficient melter on the market.

Maximum adhesive care:

The thermal tests reflect the thermal homogeneity of the Micron deposit over its entire surface. They also show a high flow speed of the adhesive that exceeds the performance of the competing equipment analysed.
